LOOK:

God is not impressed by our status in society or in the church. He is not influenced by what people say or think about us, because He sees the thoughts and motives of the heart (1 Sam. 16:7). Meekness and humility are basic to the proper attitude believers should display in their relationship toward God, and service to the needy is characteristic of the proper attitude one should have toward others.

Jesus’s message is that the delaying brings a deadly consequence. The longer sinners wait, the harder their hearts become. “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts” (Heb. 4:7).

LOOK:

Ask ourselves honestly, “Which marks our life: Dead religion or reality with the living Lord?” If we lack reality, we need, like that of this woman, to make personal contact with Jesus Himself. He alone has the power to release us from dead religion so that we can walk in the joy of new life with Him.
