LOOK:

God is always looking for willing workers. There is an even greater need for laborers today, and we have tremendous opportunities for sharing the Gospel with a lost world. Are you one of God’s willing volunteers? “Go and tell” is still God’s command to His people (v. 9; see Matt. 28:7; Mark 5:19). He is waiting for us to reply, “Here am I; send me.”

LOOK:

God is always serious about sin, and especially those who profess to follow God. His covenant people blatantly disobeyed and perverted good to evil. Since they would not repent and accept His offer of pardon (1:18), then all He could do was send judgment. Let’s evaluate our own heart and make sure that we are not engaging in similar sins.

LOOK:

God has lavished abundant care and blessings upon us. But what has been the return? We have not acted in ways consistent with his nature nor have we developed character that conforms to his will. We cannot ignore God with impunity. What is sowed must also be reaped.

LOOK:

When God entrusts us with fertile land, places a hedge of protection around it, plants the choices vines, clears the stones to cut out a winepress, He expects us to cultivate it and tend to it so that “good grapes” come from it. How well are we stewarding all the good gifts He’s given us?

LOOK:

The real reason for God’s judgment is not punishment, but salvation. The prophet has hope, a hope grounded in faith in God. The people can be cleansed of the sin and filth of their lives and given a place of standing with God. Thus, it’s never too late for anyone to repent of their sins and give their life to Christ. It’s a privileged position to be in God’s family, which should motivate us to righteous living for His name’s sake.
