I challenge you to evaluate how confident you are in God’s sovereignty, especially during a chapter of history where evil is running rampant. Do you believe you can trust fully in His sovereignty such that you don’t live in fear? Do you believe that your place in history is to point people to Jesus so their hearts can rest? We have a wonderful opportunity to be His light in the midst of spiritual darkness, so let’s do our part!

We just identified the TRUTHS about God. Is there a particular truth that strikes you as more meaningful given what is going on your life these days? If so, maybe the Lord is trying to encourage you to focus on it because He knows what your spiritual needs are as we processed this lesson. In the meantime, I encourage each of us to praise God by celebrating the TRUTHS that were revealed about Him in today’s passage.

For today’s lesson, I steered away from the word “mentor” because too many of us start to disqualify ourselves in our heads and discount our ability to pour the love of God into others and help them find their way through prayer, bible study, worship and fellowship. However, all of us can be a spiritual guide by pointing people in the right direction. We can all spiritually guide people to help them move closer to Christ.

Challenge: Let’s not discount our impact on the lives around us, especially to those who are spiritually lost. I want us to pray that the Lord increase our spiritual awareness and sensitivity to recognize the opportunities He’s given us. Let’s be available and accessible. Let’s trust the work of the Holy Spirit to give us the words we need to share. God has placed them in our circles of influence to point them to Christ, so let’s do that and give God the praise and glory for the supernatural work He will do through us. Are you up for that?!!

The best way we can avoid the pitfalls of becoming prideful is to acknowledge what we know to be true about God:

• God’s kingdom is eternal.
• God’s dominion endures for many generations
• God is the Most High God who is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of men.
• God does as He pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth.
• God is the king of heaven.
• Everything God does is right and all His ways are just.
• God is able to humble those who walk in pride.

Q: Do you have a fireproof faith? Do you believe that your faith can get you through fire? If you share the BELIEFS of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, I think you can say “Yes!”

• A fireproof faith obeys God and accepts the consequences.
• A fireproof faith trusts God despite the circumstances.
• A fireproof faith trusts God no matter the outcome.
• A fireproof faith waits on God for the rescue.

Here is a pertinent lesson for believers today. Does God have all power? Yes. Is God able to deliver believers from all problems and trials? Yes. But does God deliver believers from all trials? No. God may allow trials to come into our lives to build character or for a number of other reasons (Rom 5:3-5). The purpose for trials may not always be understood, but God simply asks that we trust him—even when it is not easy. As Job, who endured incredible suffering, exclaimed, “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him” (Job 13:15). Although God does not guarantee that his followers will never suffer or experience death, he does promise always to be with them.
