LOOK:

If we read and study the Word of God only from a sense of duty, then its treasures may never be revealed to us. It is the believer who rejoices in the Word, who delights to read and study it day by day, who will find God’s hidden treasures. “Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands” (Ps. 112:1, NIV). Do you delight in God’s Word?

One of the key lessons we can learn from this long chapter is that people are important to God. Did you identify with any of the tactics the Enemy used to stop God’s work? He used ridicule (4:1–6) and plots of war (vv. 7–9), which resulted in difficulties within the Jewish ranks: discouragement (v. 10), fear (vv. 11–23).

Referring to Satan, Paul wrote, “For we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Cor. 2:11). This chapter presents four of Satan’s devices for opposing the Lord’s work, and it also tells us how God’s people can be steadfast and defeat the enemy. If you start building, you will soon be battling; so, be prepared!
